Samson had strong German bloodlines with a family history of multiple titled Schutzhund winners.  Samson's full sister, Maxi vom Mittelwest (Schutzhund 3) won the 2001 German Sieger award.  Both Samson's parents and grandparents also had Schutzhund 3 titles.  Samson was trained as an air-scent search and rescue dog since the age of 10 weeks, and had been successfully used on many searches.  Samson had passed air scent certifications in three separate states:  Arizona, Texas, and South Dakota.  Samson had an overall wonderful disposition, with a very strong desire to work.  Samson was neutered at the age of three due to significant allergies and an average hip OFA rating of "fair".  Samson also had a floppy left ear, which most people find just adds to his appeal.

On August 18, 2011 Samson was laid to rest after battling an auto-immune disease named Pemphigus that he had acquired just a few months prior.  Due to Samson's extensive training, I spent many hours for many years with him.  I miss him terribly.
